Hello! Thank you for your interest in our family's French Bulldog breeding program! Each and every one of our Frenchie babies is hand-raised with love and care right here in the United States of America home. As true hobby breeders, we only bring one to two litters of French Bulldog puppies into this world each year, focusing on quality over quantity. Our ultimate goal is to produce healthy, happy, beautiful French Bulldog puppies that will bring many years of joy and companionship to families just like yours!  The health and wellbeing of our French Bulldogs and their babies is placed above all else. Our dogs are health-tested, current on vaccines and vet care, and fed a high quality diet of raw and kibble with fresh fruits and vegetables. Our Frenchies hog our couch; they sleep in warm beds; they play with our son's toys more than their own... and we wouldn't have it any other way! We've made a lifelong commitment to our dogs, which is why we don't re-home them when they're retired from our breeding program. This is the only home they've ever known, and they will remain with us always. After all, our Frenchies are our family, and family is forever! Because we expect the same quality of life for each and every French Bulldog puppy born here, we only sell our puppies as pets and not to kennels or any other breeding programs. Before leaving our care, all of our French Bulldog puppies are checked from head to tail by a licensed veterinarian and health-certified.

About the French Bulldog Breed

01

French Bulldog Origin

Over the course of a century, the French Bulldog was produced in England, adored and popularized in France, and perfected in America. The French Bulldog's roots trace back to England more than 100 years ago, where the ancestral Bulldog was crossed with a terrier to create a smaller, lighter version known as the Toy Bulldog. These Toy Bulldogs became very popular among one group of people in particular - artisans in the lace-making industry. When the Industrial Revolution forced these lacemakers out of work, they emigrated to Northern France and took their little Toy Bulldogs with them. Popularity of the Toy Bulldog first spread among ordinary Parisians such as butchers, rag trade dealers, and (notoriously) the city's belles de nuit or streetwalkers... and eventually made its way to the high-society and upper class. In France, these adorable dogs became known as Bouledogues Francais, or French Bulldogs, and developed into a more uniform breed with a compact body and less of an underbite. Wealthy Americans traveling to France ultimately fell in love with the breed and began bringing them back to to the USA. Here, the French Bulldog breed standard was set to only accept the erect, rounded "bat" ears, replacing the "rose" ears of the previous version. Today, the French Bulldog, also known as the Frenchie, is adored by all and remains #4 in popularity out of all the dog breeds in America!

What's To Love About the French Bulldog?

Aside from its adorable cartoonish looks, the French Bulldog's small size of approximately 16-28 lbs. makes it the perfect dog for city and apartment living! Lively, but not hyper, the French Bulldog requires minimal exercise of about 1 hour each day, which can consist of several short walks around the block throughout the day. French Bulldogs generally pack a large personality into their little bodies, as they're known to be funny, expressive, and extremely lovable. They love to snuggle, they sleep enough to earn them the nickname "potatoes," and they're overall a happy-go-lucky breed that will keep you laughing! They make excellent lap dogs but don't do well outdoors or in extreme temperatures. French Bulldogs don't bark often, but when they do, it's typically a deep distinctive Frenchie bark and not the annoying high-pitched bark that you would expect from other small breeds.

French Bulldog Care Requirements

While French Bulldogs are, in our opinion, one of the best breeds to own, we highly recommend that anyone interested in owning one do some research on the breed, as they may not be the best fit for everyone. As a brachycephalic breed, the French Bulldog's small size and adorable flat face make it super susceptible to heatstroke. Frenchies generally do not do well in the heat and must be kept indoors during periods of extreme temperatures. For example, we are located in South Florida where the heat index regularly exceeds 100 degrees in the summertime. Our Frenchies can go for short walks in the summer, and they can even play for short periods during the early morning and late evening hours when it's not as hot... but you won't find us at the beach or the dog park with our Frenchies on a mid summers afternoon. The French Bulldog doesn't make a great outdoorsy adventure type of dog. They can't swim, and they exhaust easily. Many require particular high-quality diets, and their wrinkles and tail pockets require regular cleaning. If cared for properly, the French Bulldog has an average lifespan of 10-14 years.
